The Paralympic

paralympic game x jiaqi wang

The Paris Olympics commissioned illustrator and director Jiaqi Wang to create a pair of educational videos for the Paralympic Games, each designed to introduce audiences to the unique dynamics of blind football and sitting volleyball. Working closely with an animation team to bring her vision to life, Jiaqi took charge of the overall art direction, visual identity, and storytelling concept, crafting a playful yet respectful interpretation of the two sports.

Through expressive characters, clean compositions, and rhythmic pacing, the videos translate complex rules and gameplay mechanics into an engaging visual language that’s both accessible and informative. Rather than relying on didactic explanations, Jiaqi’s direction emphasizes the energy, coordination, and teamwork that define Paralympic sport — highlighting the athletes’ precision and creativity in navigating the field or court.

Beyond their educational function, the films form part of a broader initiative by the Paris Olympics to promote inclusion, empathy, and awareness. By spotlighting the skill, determination, and joy of disabled athletes, the project seeks to challenge stereotypes, celebrate diversity, and inspire audiences to see sport as a shared human experience that transcends physical boundaries.
